Questions about background data, how to save data, and improving data usage are addressed in this section.
The latest smart devices are constantly checking for and downloading updates to apps, syncing your photo’s to the cloud and performing many other high data usage tasks. To make the most of the data you have available whilst travelling, we recommend you adjust the settings on your smart devices to reduce their data usage on the Wi-Fi network which is connected to our SIM.
For Apple iPhone/iPad’s running iOS/iPadOS 13+, open the Settings app > Wi-Fi > select your the Wi-Fi network and enable “Low Data Mode”
For Android devices running v9+, open the Settings app > Network & Internet > select your Wi-Fi network > Advanced > Network Usage and enable “Treat as metered”
For Windows 10/11 laptops, Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Select your Wi-Fi network > Properties > turn on “Set as metered connection”
For macOS laptops, Open the App Store, open Preferences via the menubar under the App Store > Preferences, and untick Automatic Updates
